Introduction

The trend towards weight- and cost-saving designs has noticeably increased the importance of bolted connections. Extensive textbooks and the VDI 2230 guideline, which has been further developed over more than 40 years, are now available for the calculation and design of bolted connections. Unfortunately, these extensive calculation regulations all too often deter newcomers to the subject of bolt design.

Target Audience

Beginners in the topic of screw design.

Main Topics

Basics:

  • Application
  • Load types
  • Thread geometry

Design according to VDI 2230:

  • Longitudinally loaded bolted joints
  • Multi-bolt connections

Objectives

Participants are given an easy-to-understand and compact overview of the design of bolted connections in accordance with the current VDI 2230 guideline. The course starts with longitudinally loaded bolted connections and then extends the knowledge gained to multi-bolt connections.
