The calculations in the FVA-Workbench can be used to reliably simulate the static and dynamic characteristic values of plain bearings.

The calculation methods are continuously tested and validated in several research projects at the TU Clausthal high-performance test bench.

The pressure, temperature, viscosity, density and turbulence distribution in the lubrication gap can be calculated simultaneously, taking the bearing geometry and the ambient conditions into account.

    Key calculation features

    • Precise detection of the bearing bore geometry
    • Improved complete oil supply and "pocket" models, with consideration of inlet losses
    • Consideration of the temperature and pressure dependence of the oil viscosity
    • 2d calculation of the pressure distribution in the entire lubrication gap, solution of the extended Reynolds equation
    • 3d calculation of the temperature and viscosity distribution in the lubrication gap, solution of the energy equation
    • Resolution of turbulent areas in the lubricating film and consideration of the oil viscosity
