FVA-Workbench Version 4.6 Released

The FVA drive technology software is now even more powerful, with an extended range of calculations and CAD export capabilities

The new FVA Workbench 4.6 provides engineers with calculation methods based on the latest research. This includes standard calculation methods for bevel gears, and improvements to complete gearbox calculations which increase the quality of shaft, bearing, and gear simulations.

Native CAD Formats – flexible licensing: For the first time, in version 4.6 models can be exported in multiple CAD formats directly from the FVA Workbench for use in other design programs.

"We have systematically enhanced the groundbreaking calculation methods integrated in the calculation and simulation platform. With this new version, we continue to tailor the functionality of the Workbench to the wishes and needs of our customers. This also includes flexible licensing of the CAD export functionality. The FVA Workbench is a powerful tool that makes the results of FVA research projects available for implementation in industrial practice" stated Norbert Haefke, Managing Director of FVA Software & Service GmbH.

Expanded range of calculations from the leading drive technology research network

The functional scope of the FVA Workbench is continuously refined, reviewed, and expanded in cooperation with leading research institutions and companies from the drive technology industry within the FVA expert network.

New versions of the following calculation methods are included in FVA Workbench 4.6:

  • Load distribution, geometry, and standard load carrying capacity of cylindrical gears
  • Load distribution and standard load carrying capacity of bevel gears

The contents of the three FVA Workbench 4.6 editions build on each another:

  • Modeler Edition: Modeling and parameterization of gearboxes
  • Extended Edition: Calculation and simulation of machine elements according to national and international standards
  • Advanced Edition: Calculation of the entire system or individual machine elements, including their environment

Every edition of FVA Workbench 4.6 includes all the features necessary to build and parameterize gearbox models and calculate the power flow.

The user-oriented interface actively supports users in creating consistent models. Visualization and animation of the kinematics makes complex gearbox models intuitive and easy to understand.

Any version of FVA Workbench 4.6 can be upgraded to a higher edition at any time and for a flexible period. This makes it possible to temporarily increase the number of licenses as necessary, and to align licensing costs with both functionality and intensity of use. Standalone and network licenses are available. All FVA Workbench 4.6 editions include maintenance, expert support, and updates during the licensed period.

Flexible licensing of the CAD export feature

By licensing the CAD export feature, FVA Workbench 3D models can be exported in various formats - CATIA V5, CATIA V4, IGES, STEP, VDA-FS and ACIS SAT - and used in standard CAD systems.
